Lenskart co-founders Peyush Bansal pump Rs 160 Cr into eyewear retailer
Lenskart co-founders Peyush Bansal and Neha Bansal, along with co-founders Amit Choudhary and Sumeet Kapahi, have invested $19.12 million in the company, just a month after raising $200 million in a secondary round.
Lenskart's co-founders, Peyush Bansal, Neha Bansal, Amit Choudhary, and Sumeet Kapahi, have collectively invested $19.12 million into the company.
This move comes shortly after the eyewear retailer secured $200 million in a secondary round from Temasek and Fidelity Management and Research Company. According to a filing with the Registrar of Companies, Lenskart raised Rs 160 crore ($19.12 million) by issuing 695,000 shares at an issue price of Rs 2,300 each.
Peyush Bansal, CEO and a judge on Shark Tank India, invested Rs 70.7 crore for 307,000 shares. Neha Bansal contributed Rs 70.39 crore for 306,000 shares. Amit Choudhary and Sumeet Kapahi invested Rs 9.60 crore and Rs 9.35 crore for 41,755 and 40,658 shares, respectively.
Previously, Lenskart raised $200 million from secondary investments, which brought the company's total capital raised to $1 billion over the last 18 months and pushed its valuation above $5 billion. The company had also raised $100 million from private equity firm ChrysCapital in 2022.
Financially, Lenskart reported a consolidated operating revenue of Rs 3,788 crore in FY23, up from Rs 1,502 crore the previous year. The company reduced its losses to Rs 64 crore from Rs 102 crore in the same period and achieved an EBITDA of Rs 404 crore in FY23, a significant increase from Rs 1 crore the previous year.
Lenskart, which operates over 2,500 stores globally (including 2,000 in India), is expanding its presence in international markets like Singapore, Dubai, the US, and Southeast Asia.
