The following year, in 1999, she signed a recording contract with producer Oscar Mediavilla. Although she began studying at the University of Buenos Aires, she eventually dropped out to focus on her music career.

In 2001, Lola released her debut album Inalcanzable, which was a big success in Latin America. The next year, in 2002, she was cast as Esméralda in the theater musical Notre-Dame de Paris, which was performed in Verona, Italy, and Barcelona, Spain. For the musical's soundtrack, she recorded two songs, "Ave Maria Pagana" and "Ali in Gabbia, Occhi Selvaggi." This role marked her breakthrough in Italy and Europe.

In 2004, she released her first English-language album, Fearless, and in 2005, she performed the song "Sleep" during the revival part of the Sanremo Music Festival. In 2008, Lola released her third studio album, Il Diario di Lola, featuring songs in Spanish, Italian, and English. 

That same year, she won the 58th Sanremo Music Festival alongside Giò Di Tonno with the song "Colpo di fulmine," which reached number one on the Italian Singles Chart.
