Apple AI features to not be free soon, company may launch monthly subscription
Apple introduced its long-awaited artificial intelligence features, which it called Apple Intelligence, during last month's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). It is presently accessible for free on eligible devices running the most recent versions of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.
Apple AI features, which were recently revealed in the Apple Intelligence suite at the company's WWDC 2024 event, are now accessible for free on iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. However, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, these features may not be free to use forever since Apple will break Apple Intelligence into two tiers: one free with a limited set of features and a second paid edition with the complete suite of AI features across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
According to Mark Gurman, the paid version will be called Apple Intelligence+, and Apple will most likely generate more money from these subscription services than from device sales.
Furthermore, he indicated that Apple plans to limit subscription fees from any AI partners who interact with its devices. Previously, Mark Gurman indicated that Apple aims to bring AI to its Vision Pro mixed reality headset as well, but it is unlikely to be released anytime soon because Apple is still deciding how the features would appear in mixed reality.
